Now, I don’t intend to sleep in my own bed on this staycation, although I know some do. While I love my own bed, I don’t love all the things I often think about instead of sleeping at night. You know what I’m talking about. Tomorrow’s Saturday so when I get up, I really should weed the flower bed. Oh, and I’ve been meaning to clean out that closet. Plus, I have to do the regular chores like laundry. Before I know it, I’ve got my whole weekend planned out and not a single minute left to just breathe and enjoy life. Of course, I can’t do this every weekend because then my house would be disgusting and I’d have no clean clothes or dishes, but it’s the beginning of summer, school is out, and I want a little time to enjoy it! Plus, wouldn’t your kids just be ecstatic?!? I don’t think that little girl in the photo is complaining. Besides, it’s just one weekend. I’n not looking for more than a short break.
It seems like I’m also getting tons of deals in my email for staycations as well. Even my inbox is telling me I need a staycation! One subject line literally says, “Get Rates from $24 plus $20 in Food and Beverage Credit!” Opening another gets me a list of options ranging from a hotel room or small suite for $55 per night to $139 at the local Waldorf Astoria property plus a $50 food and beverage credit.
You don’t have to be a frequent traveler to get these deals, either. The first one came from a nearby casino hotel. I visited there once and signed up for their “player” card and even though I’ve never gambled there, I am always getting deals to stay there in the mail. They allow kids and they have a great pool area so why not? That doesn’t help you for this weekend, though, so what can one do immediately? I have signed up for other discount sites like Groupon, Living Social and Amazon Local. Not only do they send me discounts in my email, I find even more when I visit their websites and you can sign up and get deals immediately.
So, why are you still reading this post? The weekend is almost here! I’ve already booked my room and can practically taste the nice, cold beverage I’m going to be enjoying poolside. I hope you get to enjoy one, too!
