Great Britain Days 1 & 2

Today was our first full day of sightseeing. We have learned to make our way using the Tube, which is a good thing because we learned yesterday, on a Sunday, when it was less crowded. Today, it was a sea of people all in a hurry. There was no empty place to stand to look at signs or get one’s bearings so I was definitely grateful that we had done it before. Anyway, yesterday as it was a very short day, we toured Warner Bros. Studios and the Harry Potter sets. Today, having a full day to spend, we took a bus tour around London seeing he outside of Westminster Abbey (we’re doing the inside later this week), Big Ben (well, the tower its in since Big Ben is actually the bell inside), St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge.  Here are a few highlights:

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge – I had no idea it was blue. It was really overcast so the photo doesn’t show how blue any of the non-stone areas are.

The Tower of London

The Tower of London – This didn’t seem so “towery” until we were climbing all the stairs.
