There are so many new attractions and experiences coming to the Disney Parks! There were a lot announced prior to the D23 Expo and, of course, they added a whole list there. In order to make sense of it all, I’ve compiled a list (as complete as I can remember) so that everyone can see what’s coming at a glance. In the interest of brevity, I’ve only included the U.S. parks. There’s even more coming overseas!

WALT DISNEY WORLD®

Magic Kingdom

Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd Skipper Canteen – From the Disney Blog, “Guests will be able to experience ‘World Famous Jungle Cuisine’ in one of several unique dining rooms.” Jungle Cruise Skippers will even be the staff here. It is scheduled to open in late 2015.

Epcot

Frozen Ever After – Replacing Maelstrom in the Norway Pavilion, this boat ride will transport guests to Arendelle for the “Winter in Summer” celebration. It will open sometime in 2016.

Royal Summerhus – This will be a Norwegian-style log cabin located near Frozen Ever After where guests can meet Anna and Elsa.

Soarin’ Around the World – Soarin’ will be updated with all new locations and film footage transporting guests around the world. It will open sometime in 2016.

Disney Hollywood Studios

Season of the Force – Not many details have been released yet for the Florida version, but we do know that the day will end with fireworks set to the music from Star Wars. This will be seasonal and will begin in early 2016.

Star Wars-Themed Land – This will include new attractions and dining as well as an update to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. Star Tours will include destinations and adventures based on the newest in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There will also be a new interactive experience based on the new film called Star Wars Launch Bay. In addition, Jedi Training Academy is getting reimagined. If that weren’t enough, there will be a new attraction allowing guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon and another that, according to the Disney Parks blog, “puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle.” This will open in stages with Star Wars Launch Bay opening later in 2015 and others, like the new attractions, taking several years to be complete.

Toy Story Land – This new land will “shrink” guests to toy size. In addition to a new track being added to the very popular Toy Story Mania! attraction, two new attractions are planned. First is a family-friendly roller coaster on which guests will ride Slinky Dog. Second, guests will ride in flying saucers in an attraction featuring those cute little aliens under “The Claw.” No opening date has been officially announced.

Animal Kingdom

Kilimanjaro Safaris – Starting in Spring, 2016, Kilimanjaro Safaris will be adding nighttime sunset safaris and those safaris will see the addition of African wild dogs and hyenas.

“Rivers of Light” – This is a new nighttime spectacular on the Discovery River located between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest. It will feature live performers, floating lanterns, and water screens like those seen in Fantasmic! and World of Color. It is expected to debut in 2016.

Pandora – The World of AVATAR – This new land will transport guests to Pandora from the movie AVATAR. Included will be a bioluminescent forest and floating mountains. A new E-ticket attraction, AVATAR Flight of Passage, will be a “flying experience.” It is scheduled to open in 2017.

DISNEYLAND RESORT®

Disneyland

Season of the Force – During Season of the Force, Tomorrowland will be reimagined with Star Wars theming including specialty food items and entertainment. Space Mountain will get an overlay transporting guests into an X-wing Starfighter battle and temporarily renamed Hyperspace Mountain. The day will end with fireworks set to music from the movies. It will begin in early 2016.

Star Wars-Themed Land – This will include new attractions and dining and will be located behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. There will be new attractions allowing guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon and another that, according to the Disney Parks blog, “puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle.” No opening date announced yet, but it will be a few years at least.

Tomorrowland – Other Star Wars changes coming to Tomorrowland include an update to the Jedi Training Academy, new adventures from the latest movie on Star Tours- The Adventures Continue, and Star Wars Launch Bay, an area where guests can meet Star Wars characters and shop for Star Wars merchandise. Star Wars Launch Bay will share space with the new Super Hero HQ, which will feature opportunities to meet super heroes like Thor and Captain America and experience Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries. Many of these changes will be in place later in 2015.

Disney California Adventure

Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters – Not many official details are available yet about this replacement for Luigi’s Flying Tires. It is expected to open in early 2016.

Soarin’ Around the World – Soarin’ will be updated with all new locations and film footage transporting guests around the world. It will open sometime in 2016.

With all the new stuff happening, I’m sure I’ve missed something (in fact, I know I didn’t even touch on all the major changes to Downtown Disney / Disney Springs), but hope I’ve hit the highlights inside the Disney Theme Parks. Which new attraction or experience are you most looking forward to?
